Men Cap Off Unbeaten League Campaign – April 16th, 2018

Saturday the 14th of April saw the Doylestown Dragons see out the end of their season hosting Old Gaelic. No matter what took place, Doylestown was locked into the first seed in the MAC tournament and Gaelic was locked into 7th (1st and 4th respectively in the MAC North).

Despite that, a win against Gaelic would be the completion of the rare undefeated season. This was a game that all the boys had circled on their calendars from the start of the season. The match up is always a tough one and has gone the other way in recent years.

Not only that, but the crowd was large with a food truck keeping people well fed and two D3 playoff games going off on either end of the Doylestown match. The atmosphere was perfect for the Dragons to cap their season off with a bang.

The scoring started immediately as it has all season. It has never taken more than a phase or two for the Dragons to find themselves breaking the line and running down the oppositions throats.

Scoring throughout the day was orchestrated by the masterful play of flyhallf, and Man of the Match, Dylan Hamilton. He touched down for four trys of his own and notched 9/11 conversions. Additional trys were scored by Dave Kornock x2, Eric French, Dom Kirby, Mike Acker, Max Compo, and Steve Kornock. The days final score was 73-10.

The defense wavered in two moments, giving up two unconverted trys in the corner; one in each half. All together the Gaelic men were stifled behind the line all day.

Many of the mistakes of the early fall have been addressed and the clinical nature of the Dragons play is reassuring heading into the win or go home section of the season.

The Dragons next match up will be hosting the Norfolk D2 squad at home on 4/28 at 2PM.

Up the Dragons and congratulations on an undefeated regular season!
